Abstract-
Most elementary processes in physics involve exchange of energy /momentum between particles, between particles and waves, and between different waves. A fundamental quest, then, is to figure out when and how these exchanges can take place efficiently and strongly.
It is natural to ask what new phenomena might emerge if, for instance a quantum particle wave (QW) was made to interact with a classical light-like electromagnetic wave (CW). In this enquiry, we explore how the ``wave-nature of the particle” might play a crucial role in strongly enhancing the resonant energy exchange/transfer particularly in the relativistic regime. The enormously strong resonance results because the relativistic particle wave and the electromagnetic wave obey equations that are mathematically very similar!
How this enhanced interaction could power laboratory as well as astrophysical phenomena is discussed.
All are cordially invited to attend the Seminar!
