Dear All,
The Department of Physics, School of Natural Sciences, invites you to a Seminar as per the following schedule:
Title: Fundamental Physics from Cosmology and galaxy clusters
Speaker : Dr. Shantanu Desai
Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad
Date/ Day: 23rd March/ Thursday
Time: 12 Noon to 1 PM
Mode: D-217
Abstract: Astrophysical observations in the last three decades have told us that we live in a preposterous universe described by the standard LCDM model consisting of 70% dark energy, 25% cold dark matter and 5% ordinary baryons. We then discuss how galaxy clusters can help us understand the Physics of the above dark sector. We then provide a survey of telescopes and surveys which are designed to shed more light on these matters. We also discuss some recent anomalies which have been seen within the standard LCDM model: Radial Acceleration relation and observations of constant dark matter surface density and how galaxy cluster observations can shed light on whether these observations can be explained within the standard LCDM model.
All are cordially invited
