Yogathon 2019- "National Sports Day"

01 Sep 2019

August 29th marks a significant day in the history of sports in India. The legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand, was born on this day. To commemorate his invaluable contribution to the world of sports especially Hockey, we celebrate his birthday as “NATIONAL SPORTS DAY” every year. To mark this day, a number of sports events and other programs are organized around the country. The government of India this year launched the "Fit India Movement" which is a nation-wide campaign that aims at encouraging people to include physical activity and sports in their everyday lives.

The target was to complete 108 Surya Namaskar. A proper warm-up was done by all participants before the start of 108 Surya Namaskar. Once the challenge started and participants picked up the pace the synchronized movements of Surya Namaskar provided an enthralling view of ocean waves. After the completion of 50 Surya Namaskar the enthusiasm and flow of positive energy in the ISC central hall was such that all participants easily completed the 108 Surya Namaskar Challenge.

The positive energy and fantastic flow of movements were such that most participants continued to perform the Surya Namaskar which in itself is a new achievement by our students showcasing their interest towards sports and fitness. The event came to a close with Maj. Gen. G. Jaishankar (Dean-DSA) and Dr. Amrish Tony (Deputy Director-Sports) recognizing all participants who completed 108 Surya Namaskar.
