Workshop On 'Climate Governance And the Global Commons'

Academic
02 Sep 2021

The Department of International Relations and Governance Studies and Global Policy Insights organized a student workshop on 'Climate Governance and the Global Commons'.

The workshop was held on 28 August 2021 and attended by nearly forty students across various fields of study. Steered entirely by the Department's students, it was conducted in two phases. The first lecture was given by Mr. Eeshan Chaturvedi on “Climate Governance: Policy Paradigms to Strengthen SDG 13”. His presentation challenged the limited policy framework within which climate action is understood and argued for a broader consideration of the climate question, even in seemingly unrelated policies. Mr. Arpit Chaturvedi presented the second lecture on “Game Theory and Systems Thinking for Global Commons”. This lecture aimed to explain the causal factor of climate in-action through the game theoretical lens. Used as an analytical tool, game theory was made available to device policymaking strategies that make cooperating over the climate question the most favourable outcome. The three-hour long workshop concluded on a question answer session between the speakers and the students.
