M.A. in English
The M.A. in English is designed to combine rigor with creativity. It takes students through significant moments in English literary history and world literature, and incorporates critical and cultural theory, translation, creative writing, and visual theory courses.
Ms. Mamta Nagar,
Senior Executive Assistant, Department of English
The M.A. program in English is awarded on completing 16 courses including an individually supervised thesis in the final semester. The Department combines various forms of pedagogy including lectures, seminars, and intensive individual supervision to enable students to discover their research interests. Most of these writing activities are based on intensive one-to-one interactions between teacher and student. Students are prepared to write a substantially researched 8,000-word thesis through such interactions. The program equips students with the skills needed for various competitive exams and careers in publishing and the media.
