B.Sc. (Research) in Economics

The B.Sc. (Research) program is one of its kind in India and is designed to be comparable to internationally acclaimed programs, and combines rigor in training with flexibility in choice. The core strength of the program is drawn from the faculty members who are active researchers in their respective fields. Major

The programs aim to produce students who are ready for opportunities outside the University, be it in the corporate, public, or non-governmental/social sector, or maybe even a desire to pursue higher studies.

The program covers core courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and foundation courses in Statistics and Mathematics. For electives, the students can choose from a broad range of courses such as Economic Development, Health Economics, Labour Economics, etc.

In their final year, B.Sc. Economics students work with a faculty member on their undergraduate thesis. On the other hand, the students belonging to B.Sc. Economics and Finance do an internship. Each Major student is assigned to a faculty adviser to offer academic advice throughout the program.

Minor

Students wishing to take intermediate/advanced courses in Economics will have to demonstrate suitable preparation in various aspects of mathematics (including calculus, algebra, and statistics). The Department requires the students to complete six courses successfully to earn a Minor degree in Economics.
