University-led cross-sectoral dialogue on SDGs through the international conference on sustainable nanomaterials

Shiv Nadar University plays an active role in key initiatives and participates in cross-sectoral dialogue on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the ways we do this by convening academic, industry, and government stakeholders to address global sustainability challenges. A recent example is the International Conference on Sustainable Nanomaterials Integration & Organization for Energy and Environment (iSNIOE2–2024), organised by the Department of Physics in collaboration with UNSW Sydney (Australia) and KTH Sweden. This four-day event exemplified the University’s commitment to facilitating multi-stakeholder exchange on SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action) through scientific innovation and policy dialogue.

With over 250 participants from academia, industry, and research organizations worldwide, the conference served as a platform for knowledge dissemination, collaborative research planning, and interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable technologies. Sessions highlighted advancements in renewable energy, nanomaterials, and environmental conservation, enabling participants to translate scientific progress into policy and practice.

The event also promoted inclusivity and capacity building, recognizing women and early-career researchers in STEM through awards sponsored by global partners such as Wiley and the American Chemical Society. Through such initiatives, the University demonstrates its ongoing role in initiating, hosting, and contributing to cross-sectoral dialogues that strengthen SDG-related partnerships and solutions.
