Vedant Patil awarded the Sustaina India Fellowship

Vedant Patil , a third-year Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Sociology, has been awarded the Sustaina india Fellowship 2025.

The Sustaina India Fellowship is a residency grant for artistic projects that engage with art and climate action policy.

Vedant’s project, titled “Spillage & Spoilage: How Does the Story of Milk Reveal Its Origin, Fragility, and Journeys Across Delhi–NCR?” , is an artistic investigation that follows milk beyond its material fragility—from rural hinterlands to the city’s doorsteps—tracing the labour, routes, and infrastructures that quietly feed Delhi–NCR.

By centering informal milk traders and transporters, the project situates their labour within the larger currents of development that both sustain and disrupt local ecologies. Vedant’s work reframes Anthropocene ethnography through milk, opening new ways to think about climate justice and climate action.
