Professor Rajeswari Raina has been awarded
Professor Rajeswari Raina has been awarded the co-chairship of the Bernard Maris UNESCO Chair, hosted by Sciences Po Toulouse, France, under the auspices of UNESCO, for the period 2025–2029.
In June this year, Professor Raina was invited to the co-chairship through a formal letter to the University.
Professor Raina’s expertise in Institutional and Ecological Economics, her work on agricultural and rural knowledge systems, and her commitment to academic excellence make her an ideal candidate for this prestigious position.
The UNESCO Chair, inspired by Bernard Maris’s legacy, aims to advance economics as a contextualised discipline that benefits society. Through participatory scientific activities and collaborative knowledge-building, it addresses critical global challenges such as inequality, sustainability, and solidarity.
Professor Raina’s leadership will be pivotal in guiding the Chair, fostering international cooperation, and promoting UNESCO’s values of sustainable and inclusive development.
This honour recognises a lifetime of contributions across diverse disciplines at the international level.
