Prof. Srinath Raghavan, Professor at Ashoka University and Senior Fellow at Carnegie India, delivered a talk at the Department of International Relations and Governance Studies on the history of America's engagements with South Asia since the late-18th century.
Prof. Raghavan identified Culture, Power and Ideology as the three strands that run through the United States' approach to the subcontinent. He took a long view of American presence to reflect on its impact on the different trajectories of political and economic modernisation evidenced in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
