Our alumnus' transportation startup 'WhistleDrive' raises whopping 10-million US dollars

02 Oct 2019

In another proud moment for Shiv Nadar University, an alumnus' transportation startup has raised a whopping 10-million US dollars. The Hyderabad-based startup is founded by Rakesh Munnanooru, who passed out of Shiv Nadar University in 2015. Rakesh, who is the CEO at WhistleDrive, was a student of B.Tech at our university.

Interestingly, Rakesh's WhistleDrive is only three years old and already serves 32 major corporations in India to ease out their employee transportation. The funding amounting to Rupees 72 crore is done by Colosseum Group which is based in Chicago, United States. This is a significant jump from last year when the same company gave a funding of Rupees five crore to WhistleDrive.

WhistleDrive already operates in three major cities in southern India - Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, and has plans to expand its wing further to new shores. It is also believed that in the next year, the company will crack at least two new cities.

Talking about the funding, Rakesh, as quoted to be saying to Yourstory, said, “WhistleDrive target is to grow 10x with this series B investment. In the next 12 months, we will look at entering two new cities to offer our TaaS model - 'Transportation as a Service' to corporates beyond Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai where we will operate, expand fleets, and fast-track customer acquisitions (sic). Rakesh can reached at rakesh@whistledrive.com
