Mr. Shiv Nadar was honoured with the prestigious ET Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 for Corporate Excellence. The award recognizes Mr. Nadar for his pioneering vision, contribution to the technology industry and pathbreaking philanthropy work through Shiv Nadar Foundation.
“I would like to thank The Economic Times and the jury for honouring me with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Corporate Excellence. It has truly been a joy and privilege to build HCL and the various institutions of the Shiv Nadar Foundation over the last 47 years,” Mr. Nadar told ET.
As per the Hurun India Philanthropy List for 2022, billionaire Nadar’s annual donations stood at Rs 1,161 crore or roughly Rs 3 crore per day. With a net worth of $28 billion, he was positioned at 46 in the Hurun global rich list and fourth among Indian peers. “European nations are quite advanced in this (philanthropy), and there are foundations running for around 100 years. We will be ahead as we have an opportunity to get the best global practices and to leapfrog,” Mr. Nadar had told ET in a 2015 interview.
India’s third wealthiest software and services billionaire always credited access to quality education and scholarships for his success and worked to create these opportunities for others. Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence is a testament to that.
