The department of sociology hosted a two day conference that sought to engage with contemporary understandings of the commons.
Early career scholars from IIT Bombay, NIAS, SNU, IIIT Delhi, LSE, Carleton University and the University of Sussex presented papers across three panels. The three panles engaged with contemporary understanings of the commons through the thematics of Soverginity & Resource, Custom and Ownership Dynamics. The conference also had an interactive theatre game that sought to bring out the conflict between individual and community decision making processes of engaging with the commons.
Through the conference SNU provided a platform for liveley discussions over two days that will inform future reserach initiatives.
