AI in Academia: Transforming Higher Education



The Information Technology Office at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR, organized a day-long workshop - 'AI in Academia: Transforming Higher Education' for faculty and staff members at the University. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Ashwini Kumar, Principal Manager - Modern Workplace and Security, Microsoft. Mr. Kumar shared valuable insights into global AI trends, Microsoft's educational initiatives, and the future of AI in academic settings during the workshop.

The workshop introduced the participants with topics including AI curriculum integration, generative AI applications in teaching, and effective prompting strategies to enhance academic delivery.

The first session began with a discussion on global AI trends, Microsoft's Academic Collaboration programs, and an introduction to Microsoft's AI learning paths including AI-900 and AI-102. Participants gained clarity on how these resources can be leveraged to upskill both faculty and students.

The session on 'Generative AI for Teaching' provided hands-on exposure to generative AI tools designed for education- covering lesson planning, quiz creation, grading rubrics, and best practices in AI-powered instruction. The focus was on practical applications that educators can directly implement in their classrooms.

The event concluded with an open forum, enabling participants to ask questions, share perspectives, and discuss collaborative ideas around AI adoption in academic environments.

A step forward in fostering AI readiness among educators and academic administrators, the workshop allowed participants to delve in practical insights, access different AI resources, and renewed enthusiasm to incorporate AI meaningfully into their teaching and learning practices.
