Iram Ghufran: Exploring Social Worlds Through Film and Art



Iram Ghufran is an accomplished independent filmmaker and artist, currently teaching in the Department of Art, Media, and Performance at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences | Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR .

Her remarkable work has been featured at prestigious international venues, including the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) , Experimenta India, Brakhage Center Symposium, Arsenal 4, Visible Evidence ’21, and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Film Festival , as well as the Dhaka Art Summit, World Social Forum, and the 27th Seoul International Women’s Film Festival.

Iram has received numerous residencies and fellowships, including the PSBT Film Fellowship, West Heavens Research and Film Residency, Arts Network Asia Fellowship, and the Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council Residency. In 2016, she was shortlisted for the Tim Hetherington Visionary Award, and her film received a Special Jury Mention at the SAARC Film Festival in Colombo.

Her accolades also include two National Awards and the Mary Kay First Prize at the International Women’s Film Festival in Seoul. Notable works include A Terrible Beauty and There Is Something in the Air!
