Dr. Ramachandran obtained a B.E. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Anna University, Chennai, in 2010. He subsequently joined the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) for his graduate studies. He received his M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Control and Computing, in 2012, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2021 under the guidance of Prof. Virendra Sule.
Upon completion of the doctoral program, he continued his research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Bombay until May 2022. He then held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Namur, Belgium, working with Prof. Alexandre Mauroy, and at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands, working with Prof. Lelya Ozkan.
His research interests lie broadly in control, dynamical systems, and optimization. In particular, his work focuses on system identification and parameter estimation, data-driven modeling of large-scale nonlinear dynamical networks, and the study of Boolean Control Networks. He leverages tools from Koopman operator theory and Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to develop scalable algorithms and frameworks.
His immediate research focus is in developing interpretable, control-oriented data-driven models, integrated with online data that can serve as surrogate models or digital twins for large-scale systems and networks, such as smart grids and vehicular traffic networks.
Apart from this primary interest in control and dynamical systems, he is also passionate about computational linear algebra over real and finite fields.
