Principia 2026
Dear All,
The Physics Society and the Department of Physics are organising a one-day workshop, PRINCIPIA 2026, the inaugural edition of our flagship physics workshop. The workshop is scheduled for 07th February 2026 from 10:30 AM at C-021
PRINCIPIA is envisioned as a platform to celebrate physics across subfields and foster academic exchange among faculty, undergraduate students, and a select group of high-school students. The conference aims to broaden students’ perspectives on diverse research directions, problem-solving approaches, and the broader culture of physics.
We are honoured to host Prof. Deepak Dhar for a Professor’s Talk at PRINCIPIA 2026. Prof. Dhar is a distinguished Indian theoretical statistical physicist known for his seminal contributions to statistical physics and stochastic processes, with influential work on topics such as self-organised criticality, phase transitions, fractals, and lattice models. He is the first Indian to be awarded the Boltzmann Medal (2022), the highest international recognition in statistical physics, and has also received the Padma Bhushan (2023) and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (1991) among several other honors. Prof. Dhar currently serves as Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bengaluru, and is an elected fellow of all three major Indian science academies as well as The World Academy of Sciences.
The event will include invited talks, a physics workshop, student poster presentations, and student-led competitions. We believe your presence and engagement would greatly enrich the experience for all participants.
