Ambassador Mickevičienė will offer an in-depth analysis of Europe's rapidly changing security landscape, particularly in the context of Russia's 2022 war against Ukraine. Drawing from Lithuania's unique vantage point, she will discuss the broader implications of the conflict for Central-Eastern Europe and beyond, offering insights into the necessary steps to bring an end to the war. Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on the evolving geopolitical dynamics in Europe and their global ramifications.

Abstract:

"Russia's 2022 war against Ukraine has drastically altered Europe's landscape and impacted the world. For Lithuania and Central-Eastern European countries, this war was anticipated due to their experiences with an increasingly assertive Russia. These nations view it as a neocolonial war of aggression. However, in regions farther away, such as Asia and Africa, the war is often perceived differently, influenced by distinct historical contexts. The speaker will discuss the evolution of Europe's security situation from an Eastern European viewpoint and provide insights on what is needed to end the war.
