The University’s goal is to become internationally recognized for the quality of its research and creative endeavours and their applicability to improving quality of life, generating new insights and expanding the boundaries of human knowledge and creativity. Committed to excellence in teaching, research and service, the University aims to serve the higher education needs of India and the world beyond.

The University is now into the second decade, and has four schools and nine centres. In just the first decade of its establishment, the university has been recognised as an Institute of Eminence, IOE, by the special committee appointed by the MHRD, Government of India.

The University invites from highly motivated and talented candidates with demonstrated research experience and expertise in laboratory management for the position of Scientist.

Purpose of the role

Assist the Team Leader in the coordination and management of research programs at the Center for Integrative and Translational Research (CITRES) (https://snu.edu.in/centres/center-for-integrative-and-translational-research-citres/) and the Center of Excellence in Epigenetics (CoEE) (https://snu.edu.in/centres/center-of-excellence-in-epigenetics/).

Job Description for Scientist

The Department of Life Sciences (https://snu.edu.in/schools/school-of-natural-sciences/departments/department-of-life-sciences/) at the University has established several cutting-edge Centers focused on addressing complex challenges in modern biology, fundamental science, and healthcare. At the Center of Excellence in Epigenetics (CoEE), researchers are actively exploring significant biological questions using a diverse range of model systems. Additionally, a new Center for Integrative and Translational Research (CITRES) has been developed, featuring a state-of-the-art animal facility designed for experimental research with various animal models. This facility is equipped to import, maintain, serve as a repository, and generate in-house transgenic and knock-out mice and rats, as well as zebrafish, and is envisioned to function as a National Facility. Over time, it will develop the expertise and resources necessary to support Indian academia and industry.

To minimize reliance on rodent models and leverage the genetic and cellular advantages of alternative organisms, the facility will also incorporate non-mammalian models such as the Zebrafish (Danio rerio). The successful candidate should be open to adopting innovative and emerging model systems as part of the research initiatives at these centers.
