Polymer Materials Research Lab

The group carries out research in membranes, coatings and thin films using polymers, composites, blends, biomaterials and nanomaterials. We use Molecular Dynamics simulations to analyse gas permeation through membranes, hydrophobicity and oleophobicity for coatings and barrier properties of thin films for packaging applications. Gas permeation through membranes is studied for different applications which include CO2 separation and H2 enrichment. These studies are also done experimentally in the lab, where the materials are prepared via membrane/film casting machine. The research group will be working in the fields of bioplastics, biodegradable polymers, hydrogels and smart materials in the near future.
