Geoinfomatics Laboratory
Geoinformatics is a scientific field that includes the use of emerging techniques such as remote sensing, GIS, and spatial data analysis. These emerging techniques are being widely used for the fast and reliable collection of field data as well as its analysis. These techniques find numerous applications in different domains of Civil Engineering as well as interdisciplinary domains such as agriculture and water management, disaster management and so on.
Laboratory Resources and Infrastructure
The Geoinformatics Laboratory, at the Department of Civil Engineering, includes advanced remote sensing equipment and processing facility as well as the equipment facility used for surveying. The field lab facilities of Water Management Field Laboratory, SNIoE, are also utilized for the collection of spatial and drone remote sensing data from the agricultural field plots.
The advanced remote sensing facility includes the following sensors and equipment:
- Drone (hexacopter)
- Multispectral camera system
- Spectroradiometer
- PAR meter/ Plant canopy analyser
- Hyperspectral camera system
- GPS
The laboratory is also equipped with surveying equipment, that includes the following:
- Total station
- Electronic theodolite
- Venier theodolite
- Digital level
- Auto level
- GPS
- Other surveying instruments
