U.S.-India Relations: The Defining Partnership of the 21st Century



Event abstract:The U.S.-India partnership is among the most consequential globally and anchored in shared values of democracy, freedom, and rule of law. Our defense partnership has enhanced global security through increased operational coordination, information-sharing, and defense industrial innovation. Economic initiatives such as the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) have strengthened economic ties. Our partnership also extends to global health and education through initiatives like the U.S.-India Drug Policy Framework, cancer research collaboration, and the Quad Health Security Partnership. Collectively, the U.S.-India relationship aims to build a cleaner, inclusive, more secure, and prosperous future for both nations and the world.

Bio: Graham Mayer has served as the Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi since August 2020. From 2017-19, he was the Acting Director of the Office of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives Affairs at the Department of State. Graham previously served as Deputy Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, from 2014-17. He has also served as a Political Officer at Embassy Beijing, Deputy Political Counselor in Sarajevo, and as a Political-Military Affairs Officer in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to that, Graham served in Beijing, Shenyang, and Lima. He received a B.A. from Haverford College and an M.S. in national security resource strategy from National Defense University.
