Soft Matter Meet-2026: Membrane Biophysics

The conference will bring together researchers working at the interface of soft matter, biophysics, physics, chemistry and biology to discuss recent advances and emerging directions in the study of biological membranes. The scientific program features a distinguished group of invited speakers from leading national and international institutions, including the Raman Research Institute, IITs, JNU, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University College Dublin, the University of Graz and the Max Planck Institute, among others. Their lectures will cover diverse aspects of membrane biophysics, including membrane structure and organization, lipid interactions, membrane dynamics, phase behavior, membrane–protein interactions and theoretical and computational approaches to biological membranes.

The program combines invited lectures with contributed talks and poster presentations by young researchers, providing opportunities for participants at different stages of their careers to present their work and engage in scientific discussions. The diversity of approaches represented in the program is intended to encourage interaction between experimentalists, theorists and computational researchers and to foster new scientific collaborations. A special session, “Membrane Biophysics: Celebrating the Scientific Legacy of Prof. V. A. Raghunathan,” will also be held as part of the meeting, recognizing significant contributions of Prof. Raghunathan to the field. Overall, the conference aims to provide a focused forum for discussing current challenges and developments in membrane science, exchanging ideas across disciplines, and identifying new directions for collaborative research.
