Algebra And Number Theory

Research is undertaken using algebraic graph theory, combinatorics, algebraic number theory, lie algebras, category theory, and quantum groups to study Totally Nonnegative (TN) matrices.

Totally Nonnegative (TN) matrices have been studied and used in computer vision, document clustering, big data analytics, audio signal, and image processing. Through this research, we wish to examine some of the relations between these matrices and planar networks, which have been studied in detail from an altogether different standpoint. We aim to study the bridge between the two – a bridge that has unfortunately seldom been explored but holds the key to unlocking several interesting observations. With this, we can potentially use our knowledge of planar networks to construct and analyze these Totally Nonnegative matrices in great detail and gain some critical insight into the field.
