Experimental Soil Mechanics Lab
Soil is a multiphase natural material which consists of solid, liquid, and gas. Nearly all the civil engineering structure - building, embankment, dam, underground structures, bridge, earth retaining structures, road, rail network, offshore structures, etc., is founded in or on the surface of earth. Therefore, determination of engineering properties of soil is most important and inevitable phase for safe, sustainable, and resilient design of any civil engineering infrastructure. Experimental soil mechanics laboratory at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence is well equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment for physical characterization, flow characterization and mechanical behavior characterization of soil in the laboratory and at the field/site. All these facilities are utilized for the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.
