Prof. Pradeep Yammiyavar holds a Ph.D. in Product Design & Engineering from IISc Bangalore. He currently serves as a Distinguished Professor & Advisor at Shiv Nadar University. Previously, from 2020 to 2021, he held the position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Design at IIT Guwahati. His research interests span pedagogy, instructional design, e-learning, interaction design (including usability, HCI, augmented reality, virtual reality, and applications in health, social systems computing, e-governance, e-commerce, and e-medicine), design semantics, aesthetics, culture in products, graphics, and visual communication, design management (innovation, product design, fashion, marketing, strategy, packaging, branding, and soft skills), urban design, architecture design, built forms, built environment, interiors, smart cities, and psychology (engineering psychology, ergonomics, cognitive science, and mental wellbeing). Among his achievements, he received the National Award for ‘Innovation in Teaching and Curriculum Design’ in 2016 and was elected a Fellow of the Design Research Society (UK) in 2007. He has also guided students to win national and international awards for supervised design projects in ICT, including awards from Microsoft, Nokia, and Motorola for innovation.
