Department of Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering is focused on imparting quality education through its well-structured undergraduate and doctoral programs. The undergraduate program "Electrical and Computer Engineering is based on the pedagogy of "learning by doing". The taught courses have relevant laboratory and hands-on component. These courses are categorized as (a) mandatory core courses and (b) elective courses, that students can choose based on their interests. Students may earn a specialization within the department based on their choice of elective courses. In addition, they may also earn minors in other disciplines of the university.
Some of the crucial areas of teaching are Electrical Machines, Power Systems and Power Electronics, Analog and Digital VLSI, Computer Organization, Semiconductor Physics, Signal Processing, Wireless communications, Microwave Devices, Embedded & IoT systems, AI/ML applications, Control Systems, etc. Several of the courses expose the students to computer-aided problem-solving and design.
The department has a vibrant doctoral program for fundamental and applied research on challenging problems relevant to industry and academia. The department's broad thrust research areas are Analog/RF and Communication Systems, Embedded Systems & Computer Engineering, Modern Energy Systems, and Nanoelectronics. The department is equipped with ample computational and experimental facilities. The computational facilities include high-end servers and workstations and CAD software like MATLAB, Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD suite, Cadence E.D.A. suite, C.S.T. Microwave Studio, Tanner S-Edit & L-Edit, ModelSim, CoventorWare, Xilinx Vivado suite, SciSun-300 Solar Simulator, Solar Array Simulator, etc. The experimental facilities include fabrication and characterization equipment such as material growth and characterization of organic electronics, fabrication, and measurement of microwave devices, several FPGA boards like Nexys-4 Artix 7, Xilinx and associated peripherals, test and measurement equipment for board-level design, etc.
The University and the department encourages collaborative research and consultancy in interdisciplinary fields with the motto to produce state-of-the-art research output.
