Power and Control

Power and Control Research Group:

The Power and Control Research Group focuses on advanced research in power electronics, electric drives, and control systems, aiming to develop efficient, reliable, and intelligent solutions for modern energy conversion, automation, and sustainable power applications.

The group is engaged in high-quality research in the following areas:

(a) Power electronics and machine drives, with special emphasis on high power-density electric vehicle (EV) chargers using wide bandgap devices (SiC and GaN), switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives, and novel machine designs.

(b) Photovoltaic (PV) array configuration for maximum power extraction under all weather conditions, grid-connected PV systems, distributed generation, and smart grid technologies.

(c) Short-circuit mechanical strength analysis of power transformers, analysis of low-frequency electromagnetic devices, and application of analytical methods such as the homotopy perturbation method for solving nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

(d) Power electronic converter control techniques for DC and AC microgrids, phase-locked loops (PLL), and digital control techniques for motors and power converters using DSP and FPGA platforms.
