Dr. Gideon Thomas Mathson, PhD Sociology 2024

Dr. Gideon Thomas Mathson completed his PhD on ‘Socio-economic effects of the 2013 flash floods in Uttarakhand’ at the Department of Sociology, SNIoE, in 2024. Dr. Mathson has recently joined the Department of Sociology at Christ University in Bangalore as an Assistant Professor. His recent publication, "Caste-based Lists and Fading Maps: Bureaucratic Anxiety and Shifting Landscapes in the Himalayan Uttarakhand after the 2013 Flash Floods," in Contributions to Indian Sociology, highlights his significant contributions to the field.

Dr. Sarah Haq, PhD Sociology 2024

Dr. Sarah Haq completed her PhD on ‘Finding the ‘Right ‘Fit’: A Sociology of Bodies in Gyms’ at the Department of Sociology, SNIoE, in 2024. Dr. Haq has recently joined the School of Liberal Studies at BML Munjal University, Delhi-NCR, as an Assistant Professor. Her insightful work, "Of muscles and men: The making of a ‘fit’ India," published in Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society, reflects her deep engagement with contemporary social issues.

Dr. Anirban Bhattacharyya, PhD Sociology 2024

Dr. Anirban Bhattacharyya completed his PhD on ‘The Musical Works of Raja Sourindro Mahun Tagore (1840-1914)’ at the Department of Sociology, SNIoE, in 2024. He was awarded The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship for 2022-2023. Dr. Bhattacharyya is now an Assistant Professor and Head of the Music Department at Nirankari Baba Gurbachan Singh Memorial (NBGSM) College, Sohna, Gurugram. His publication, "From Musical Writings to Writing Music: Book-Writing Leading to Music School in Nineteenth-Century Calcutta," in Nineteenth-Century Music Review, showcases his expertise and scholarly contributions to the field.
