Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory

SHIMAZU’s spectrophotometer (UV-Vis 3700) can be used to measure the optical properties (such as absorption and transmission coefficients) of thin films, powder samples, and liquids. This instrument operates in the wavelength range 200-3000 nm with resolution 0.1 nm. The system has mainly two modes, i) dual beam direct transmission mode, ii) integral sphere reflection mode. Other important material properties such band gap of semiconducting materials, and photocatalytic activity can also be analyzed.
