Making the most of Remote Sensing Data in Hydrometeorology
The Department of Civil Engineering cordially invites you for the expert talk seminar on “Making the most of Remote Sensing Data in Hydrometeorology” on September 29, 2022 (Thursday), 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. The expert talk will be delivered by Dr. J Indu (Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay). The session will be moderated by Dr. Gyan Vikash, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering.
Abstract of the talk
Satellite remote sensing has revolutionized the way we perceive Earth. Big data streaming in petabytes from satellites in different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum have immense potential in various fields of engineering and science. Our ability to collect data far out spaces our ability to understand and assimilate it. This talk shall give a brief overview of Satellite Remote sensing and showcase how radar data finds use in the field of hydrometeorology. Working case studies shall be presented based on ongoing international and national projects.
About the Speaker
A passionate teacher and researcher, Dr. J. Indu works as an Associate Professor in the Remote sensing specialization at the department of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay. While working at IIT Bombay, she has won several accolades including DST Early Career Research, Indo US Fellowship for Women in STEMM, SERB POWR Grant etc. She spearheads India centric research activities in her research field by leading several international projects including BRICS, DST CNRS project. She has nearly 40 journal publications in international journals with research lab working on Radar Remote sensing in hydrometeorology.
