Kapil Hari Paranjape carries out research primarily in Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology and Algebraic Number Theory, as also in related areas such as Differential Geometry and Category Theory.

In addition, there are areas of Mathematical Sciences about which he has written expository articles and given lecture courses such as Computer Programming, Theory of Computation, Cryptology, Comptuer Algebra and Number Theory.
