National and International Recognition

Held the Field Marshal KM Cariappa Chair of Excellence from the United Service Institution of India (USI) during four years for his research on the Indian Presence in Tibet 1947-1962 (in 4 volumes).

Claude Arpi is an Overseas Citizen of India born in France. For the past 48 years, he has lived near Pondicherry where he is also the director of the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture at Auroville. He is the author of several books on the Tibet, China and the geopolitics of the region with his latest being a multi-book series on India- Tibet Relations from 1947 to 1962. He is a prolific commentator on these subjects with more than 2,000 articles in the print and online media.
