Dr. Anand Parappadi Krishnan is a Fellow at the Centre of Excellence for Himalayan Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar University, and a visiting Associate Fellow, at the Institute of Chinese Studies, Delhi (ICS). He was formerly a full-time Research Associate and Programme Officer at ICS. Dr. Krishnan holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the Centre for East Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and his doctoral thesis examined the state-labour interface in post 1980s China through the lens of social welfare. His research interests include labour and supply chains in the Global South, political economy of China and India, state-society relations, labour-urban interface, and social policy.
Before joining the Himalayan Studies Centre, he was a visiting faculty at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, offering a course on comparing development and state capacity in China and India. He tweets @anandpkrishnan.
