Neurobiology

The lab is currently focused on investigating altered brain communications related to cognitive abilities in autistic brains, and deciphering the underlying attenuated molecular mechanism in idiopathic autism. The research outcomes may provide novel therapeutic biomarkers relevant to the early diagnosis of autism.

Our group is surveying the human brain for regulatory proteins that resolve the plasticity in phenotypic preferences of microglial cells during the allostatic events across all the human developmental stages. We also study inflammatory cascades in microglia triggered by menacing pathogens such as Plasmodium or Leishmania through neurological disease modeling. Simultaneously, using Stem Cell Technology, we are trying to harvest breakthrough information about the metabolic protein signatures vital for specifying neuronal fate and propagation of various neurological deficiency states within the human brain.
