Department of International Relations and Governance Studies organizing a talk on, "How Nations Are Navigating Geopolitical Challenges"



The global geostrategic landscape is under unprecedented stress and churn. Inter-state and sub-regional conflicts are taking place across multiple theatres, from Europe to West Asia to Africa. Tensions in the Indo-Pacific have become the new normal. This talk will focus on how countries are navigating these challenges and crafting their policy responses. It will also discuss the pragmatism and realism in the Indian approach to meeting these challenges.

Amb. Dharmendra is the Dean of the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, the premier institution of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, that trains Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers in addition to carrying out capacity building initiatives for foreign diplomats. Amb. Dharmendra joined the IFS in 1990. He has previously served as Additional Secretary (Policy Planning and Research) and Joint Secretary (D&ISA) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. He was Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran (2019-2023) as previously held diplomatic posts in India's missions in Zambia, Hong Kong and Macau SAR, and Bangladesh.
