Art History /Theory
We invite applications for positions in global "Art History" from outstanding candidates who will contribute diverse perspectives and experiences to a global learning and interdisciplinary research environment.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop courses which embed art in global processes locally, nationally and transnationally as well as specialty courses in their area of expertise such as art history, contemporary art theory, artistic production and practice, and/or visual cultures with emphasis on the global south, and curatorial practices.
All courses taught should contribute to an interdisciplinary curriculum of the department and the University.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate field. Candidates should have a marked interest in the areas of South Asian art and visual culture; history of art and photography; global modernism; contemporary art with an emphasis on South Asia.
The candidate should have a good track record in publication and successful grant application in the relevant areas and preferably a good track record in designing and teaching courses (both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) in the fields mentioned above. A knowledge of postcolonial theory and curatorial interventions would be an advantage.
