Job Description 

The Department of International Relations and Governance Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (Deemed to be University) invites applications for permanent faculty positions as per the details mentioned below.

One permanent position for assistant professor is available in each of the following areas:

  1. Security Studies (with specialization in new and emerging technologies and their impact on national and international security)
  2. International Law
  3. Quantitative methods (with formal training in statistics, game theory and formal modelling)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. PhD from a recognized university of high standing in India or abroad.
  2. At least one full-length original, peer-reviewed paper published or accepted for publication in a reputed journal within the relevant academic field. In addition, the candidate is also expected to have a research paper published from his/her, she/he, they/their PhD work.
  3. At least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her PhD work.

The Department is young and seeks to acquire faculty expertise in all the key fields within the discipline of International Relations (IR) so as to offer a strong and balanced undergraduate programme in IR in addition to a rigorous doctoral programme. It welcomes applications from scholars who are passionate about teaching, have a strong research agenda and are serious about research, committed to giving time and energy to build a unique institution, and who deeply value collegiality. Each application will be evaluated on its merit but the Department is ideally looking for scholars either formally trained in IR or willing to orient themselves in the discipline.

The application package must contain the following items:

  1. Cover letter (addressed to the Head, Department of International Relations and Governance Studies) referring this announcement, mentioning the area of expertise of the applicant, and containing a statement about their suitability for the position  
  2. Latest full CV
  3. Recent photo—colour, passport size
  4. Copy of the PhD degree
  5. Copy of an original, peer-reviewed paper (published or accepted for publication) and a research paper published from their PhD work.
  6. Proof of participation as a speaker in at least two presentations in conference/seminars, based on the PhD work of the applicant.
