Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a SERB funded research project entitled “Unbiased Screening of Diversity Orientated Fluorescence Library to accelerate the Probe Development for Diagnostics and Environmental Analysis" CRG/2021/002313, under the supervision of  Dr. Animesh Samanta, Department of Chemistry, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar Instituion of Eminnence (SNIoE), Gautam Buddha Nagar, U.P. 201314. Project Synopsis 
The project aims to synthesize a library of fluorescent molecules and study fluorescence properties using experimental and computational techniques. These fluorescent molecules will be used for cellular imaging. The major objectives are:
- Synthesis and characterization of new Fluorescent molecules.
- Detailed photophysical analysis using UV-Vis and photoluminescence study. 
- Evaluation of sensing properties with biomolecules (proteins, nucleotides, nucleic acids, metabolites).
- Quantum chemical calculations, especially time-dependent density functional theory (DFT/TD-DFT) at the B3LYP/6-311++G (d, p) level using Gaussian 09 program to understand the mechanism.
- Cell culture and cellular imaging using epi Fluorescence Microscope and confocal microscope

Nature of work 
The prime goal is to discover chemosensors and fluorescent probes via design, synthesis, and spectroscopic analysis. It also involves complementary computational methods to known HOMO-LUMO energy difference after binding with an interest of analytes. The project comprises three major components, (i) Synthesis, (ii) development of chemosensors, and (iii) development of cellular imaging probes to understand the dysfunctions of cells during disease progression.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications
- The candidate should have a Master’s degree (with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade) in Chemistry from a UGC-recognized University.
- The candidate should have good analytical skills. 
- Familiarity with either organic synthesis or cell culture will be preferred. 
- Understanding of organic material characterization techniques is desirable.
- Candidates with CSIR/UGC-NET/GATE are encouraged to apply.

Duration of the Project: 26 Months

As per DST norms, fellowship is ₹31,000/- p.m. plus HRA as permissible for JRF. Lab facilities include advanced analytical instruments such as Flash Chromatography, Gas Chromatography with MS, Gel Permeation Chromatography, HPLC (Prep & Analytical), FPLC, NMR, LCMS-qToF, MALDI-ToF, DSC, TGA, Single-crystal X-ray diffractometer, Electrochemical analyzer, Fluorimeter, TCSPC, Polarimeter, UV-visible, High-resolution FTIR, Raman spectrometers, Microwave reactor, Inverted microscope, Fluorescent microscope, Host-stage polarized microscope, Bio-safety cabinets, CO2 incubators, Shaker incubators, Glove box, Multimode plate reader, Electroporator, Deep freezer, cell counter and Liquid Nitrogn generation plant.

Computational facilities that include a high performance IBM cluster (“Magus”) having 60-node and 992-cores along with two nodes with GPU processors, delivering a theoretical peak performance of ~30TF. Additionally, several Linux workstations are used for teaching as well as research purposes. Software for bioinformatics and cheminformatics, molecular modeling, molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, data analysis and statistical learning are also available. 

Our library, housed in a modern 5-storey building, provides online access, from anywhere in the campus, to a large number of electronic journals and databases including APS, AIP, ACS, RSC, AMS, SIAM, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley and Nature journals, in addition to various books, e-books and other learning resources.
