National Conference on "A New Policy Regime for Water in India"

Taking a peek into the future of #WaterConservation and related Policies in India, Shiv Nadar University is proud to initiate a dialogue on “A new policy regime for water in India” on 27 August 2018. The day long workshop will be attended by leading thinkers, researchers, policymakers, and experts working on water related issues and initiatives. There would be deliberation on Government's Water Policy, need for change in Water Management, and what does the Mihir Shah committee report mean to an average Indian who is dependent on agriculture.

Water is our most precious resource. But, do we know how to manage it?

Shiv Nadar University's Conference on “A new policy regime for water in India” featuring the brightest minds and strongest expertise on 27th August 2018:

- Ms. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Executive Director & CEO, HCL Corporation; Trustee, Shiv Nadar Foundation & Founder and Trustee, The Habitats Trust
- Dr. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University 
- Dr. Mihir Shah, Distinguished Visiting Professor, Shiv Nadar University 
- Prof. Rajeswari Raina, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar University

Ms Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Executive Director and CEO, #HCL Corporation raised some of the simple but pertinent water issues concerning the society today. Her concerns as a mother of two for pure and cleaning drinking water showed how critical the problem is in India.

The first panel discussion in the National Conference- A New Policy Regime for Water India saw think-tanks from various government organisations and the GoI in the panel and audience. The consortium debated, deliberated and discussed some of the essentials under- "Har Khet ko Paani."

The second panel discussion in the National Conference - 'A New Policy Regime for Water India' observed not only the panellists but also the audience from government & not-for-profit organisations and the GoI. The topic of 'Groundwater Management: Challenges of Implementing Atal Bhujal Yojana' was discussed, debated and deliberated.

'Institutional Restructuring: Implementation of Mihir Shah Committee Report' panel discussion at the National Conference - 'A New Policy Regime for Water India' observed a friendly debate on issues and challenges related to the execution of policies towards water conservation.

In a special session at the National Conference - 'A New Policy Regime for Water India', Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister of Water Resources, Government of India, spoke about the challenges in managing the water resources in India, also highlighting some of the success stories of newly formed policies.

The closing session at the National Conference - 'A New Policy Regime for Water India' had the who's who from various government organisations and the GoI as panel members. Presenting highlights from the conversation as the panel deliberated and discussed issues and solutions to effectively manage water resources.
