Department of Sociology at Shiv Nadar University organized a talk on “The Afterlives of a Killing: Toward an Anthropology of Assassination” by Dr. Townsend Middleton, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill recently. The talk examined how assassinations-and public killings-animate political life in South Asia. Setting out in pursuit of these afterlives of a killing, the talk interrogated assassination on the registers of Event, Aesthetics, Sequencing, Forensics, Juridics, Utility, and Temporality.
