The University invites applications from highly motivated bright candidates with interests and skills in Proteomics and mass spectrometry for working at the level of a Scientific Officer.
Purpose of the role
The Department of Life Sciences at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (SNIoE) is recruiting for the position of Scientific Officer at their Mass Spectrometry facility. The Department of Life Sciences houses world class research infrastructure that supports research and teaching programs to create new knowledge at the frontiers of biological sciences and addresses many pressing issues impacting public health.The Scientific Officer is expected to contribute to this by operating a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry core that aims to advance the research programs of department faculty and beyond. The incumbent is also expected to contribute towards the growth of this facility and constant upgradation of the services offered.
Key Responsibilities
- To handle liquid chromatography- Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS) and other such platforms that will be added to the facility
- Data analysis and Report generation
- Troubleshooting of analytical instruments including LCMS, HPLC and other analytical supporting instruments.
- Strong technical background and knowledge of Quality Control in mass spectrometry and proteomics.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office programs, especially MS Excel.
- Support to manage the day-to-day activities of MS facility.
- Vital supporter of expanding Mass spectrometry facility capabilities across the basic biology and clinical research.
- To maintain the lab updates such as: procurements, lab cleaning and safety, management of scheduler, log books for the instruments.
- Put into place an administrative structure to allow external users access to the equipment on a fee-for-usage basis
Qualifications
PhD or MSc in life science/biotechnology/chemistry/Biochemistry or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in handling mass spectrometry instruments like QTOF, Orbitrap or triple-quad.
PhD is preferred, although not mandatory if the candidate has relevant experience.
