Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow in a Anusandhan National Research Foundation funded research project entitled “Late Pleistocene Wildfires in Peninsular India: Investigating Climate Stress, Faunal Change, and Hominin Adaptation”, under the supervision of Dr. Anil Devara, Assistant Professor, Department of History and Archaeology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, Delhi-NCR, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh-201314.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications

  • MA/M.Sc. degree in Archaeology/Geology/Anthropology or related fields with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a UGC recognized university/institute
  • Candidates with CSIR/UGC-NET/GATE are encouraged to apply.

Nature of Position: The selected candidate will undertake field investigations, laboratory analyses, and data interpretation to reconstruct Late Pleistocene environments, wildfire history, biodiversity change, and human adaptation in Peninsular India. The candidate will receive training and gain hands-on experience in Quaternary geology, sedimentology, Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating, stable isotope geochemistry, palaeoenvironmental reconstruction, and other advanced analytical techniques.

Duration of the project:
Initially 12 Months (Temporary basis), which is extendable up to 2 more years

Stipend:
Fellowship is INR 37,000/- p.m. plus HRA as per guidelines.
