The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions specialising in areas related to Sustainability Studies, beginning in early 2027 as part of the BA (Research) Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Sciences (IHS) programme. We expect one of the appointments to be to a permanent position subject to an appropriate match between the candidate’s profile and the long-term academic needs of the programme. The second appointment will initially be for a three-year term, with the possibility of continuation based on performance and the evolving requirements of the programme. Candidates will be considered for the appointment structure most appropriate to their profile and fit with the programme.

Shiv Nadar University Delhi-NCR is a vibrant academic community committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The IHS programme emphasises a strong interdisciplinary focus to equip our students with a problem-solving mindset to respond to major trends in geopolitics, climate change, AI and technology, the economy, cultures and communication. Sustainability Studies is one of the three majors offered currently in the IHS programme and trains undergraduates to engage with critical global issues by building a holistic understanding of sustainability.

Each successful candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses related to concepts, measurement and reporting of sustainability, biodiversity and conservation, and disasters; advise undergraduate students; maintain an active research or professional development agenda; and provide service to the University and the profession. Additional responsibilities may include participating in curriculum development and contributing to ongoing initiatives.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in environmental sciences or a closely related area by the time of appointment. We particularly encourage candidates with interdisciplinary training in sustainability-related areas to apply. Other qualifications include demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience and publications in peer-reviewed platforms. We are interested in candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
