Position Description
Applications are invited for the Assistant Professor position in inorganic chemistry with special emphasis on Bioinorganic Chemistry, Inorganic photochemistry and photocatalysis, and Solid-state chemistry in the Department of Chemistry (https://chemistry.snu.edu.in/), School of Natural Sciences, SNIoE. We seek outstanding candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
A PhD degree with an exceptional academic track record and significant postdoctoral research experience is required to apply for this position. Candidates must demonstrate strong potential to attract external funding for their research and excellence in teaching, advising, mentoring, and supervising graduate and undergraduate students. The selected candidates will be expected to develop and sustain a dynamic and innovative research program. We are currently welcoming applicants with expertise in the above-mentioned domains only. Research Goals and Focus Areas
The department seeks candidates whose research addresses contemporary challenges in inorganic chemistry, with particular emphasis on one or more of the following areas:
Bioinorganic Chemistry: Structure, biological functions, and reactivity of metal-containing systems; metalloenzymes; metal-based therapeutics and diagnostics; biomimetic inorganic chemistry; metalloproteins; metal ion homeostasis; and chemical biology of inorganic systems.
Inorganic Photochemistry and Photo/thermo-catalysis: Design and mechanistic investigation of photoactive inorganic and coordination compounds; solar energy conversion; photocatalytic synthesis; artificial photosynthesis; photoredox catalysis; light-driven small-molecule activation; excited-state process; and sustainable energy-related photochemistry.

Chemistry education at Shiv Nadar IoE connects the fundamental principles governing the nature of the universe with the science of life. All chemistry labs are equipped with fume hoods, Schlenk lines, eyewash stations, and safety showers. Lab facilities include advanced analytical instruments such as PXRD, EPR, AFM, FESEM, Gas Chromatography with MS, GPC (Prep & Analytical), HPLC (Prep & Analytical), FPLC, NMR, LCMS-qToF, MALDI-ToF, DSC, TGA, Single-crystal X-ray diffractometer, Electrochemical analyzer, Fluorimeter, TCSPC, Polarimeter, UV-visible, High-resolution FTIR, Microwave reactor, Single molecular fluorescence microscope, Inverted microscope, Fluorescent microscope, Host-stage polarized microscope, Bio-safety cabinets, CO2 incubators, Shaker incubators, Glove box, Multimode plate reader, Electroporator, Deep freezer, cell counter, and liquid nitrogen generation plant.
Computational facilities that include a high-performance IBM cluster (“Magus”) having 8064-cores along with two nodes with GPU processors, delivering a theoretical peak performance of ~320TF. Additionally, several Linux workstations are used for teaching as well as research purposes. Software for bioinformatics and cheminformatics, molecular modelling, molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, data analysis, and statistical learning is also available.
Our library, housed in a modern 5-storey building, provides online access, from anywhere on the campus, to a large number of electronic journals and databases including APS, AIP, ACS, RSC, AMS, SIAM, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, and Nature journals, in addition to various books, e-books, and other learning resources.
