B.Tech. (1981) in "Electrical Engineering" from IIT Kanpur.
M.Tech. (1986) in "Machine Drives and Power Electronics" from IIT Kharagpur.
Ph.D. (1992) in "Electrical Engineering" from IIT Kharagpur.

Professional Experience
July 1981 to August 1987: Maintenance Engineer in Automobile plant of Tata Motors (TELCO, Jamshedpur).
September 1991 to June 1992: Lecturer in Electrical Engineering Dept. of IIT Kharagpur.
June 1992 to January 1997: Asst. Professor in Electrical Engineering Dept. of IIT Bombay.
January 1997 to January 2000: Visiting Fellow at Univ. of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA.
April 2000 to August 2000: Scientific Advisor (temporary assignment) in a DST funded project on "Superconducting Magnet Based Energy Storage System" undertaken at IIT Kharagpur.
August 2000 to June 2006: Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering of IIT Kharagpur.
June 2006 to December 2009: Senior Director (R&D) in Emerson Network Power (India) based in Thane, Maharashtra.
February 2010 to June 2010: Visiting Fellow at Univ. of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA.
July 2010 to May 2013: Senior Director (Technology) in Emerson Network Power (India) based in Thane, Maharashtra.
Joined SNU on 29th July, 2013.

Research Interests:
Power-Electronic converters for variety of Industrial Applications (including wind and solar power).

Select Publications
Awarded following two Indian Patents (co-invented with colleagues at IIT Kharagpur):-

1. A NEW GATE DRIVE CIRCUIT FOR IGBTS AND MOSFETS FOR INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS APPLICATIONS" Indian Patent No: 201682 (granted on 23-Feb-2007).

2. "ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS FOR PROTECTION OF SUPERCONDUCTING COIL AGAINST OVER-VOLTAGES AND FOR FAST DETECTION AND PROTECTION OF S.C. COIL AGAINST QUENCH" Indian Patent No: 199441 (granted on 30th June, 2006).

Four more applications for patents (co-invented with colleagues at Emerson, Thane) have been filed with Mumbai Patent office and are being evaluated.

Executive Summary
Electrical Engineering professional with more than 25 years of experience, divided almost equally between Industrial and Teaching experience. Has spent more than 20 years in different IITs while earning B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees and later teaching and guiding undergraduate and post-graduate students (has guided more than 25 Master’s degree students and 2 Ph.D. students). Worked with Industries in India and was consultant to couple of industries in USA. Has good experience in “Design of Power-electronic converters for variety of industrial applications”. Has been granted two Indian patents and some more are pending with Indian patent office. Has about 10 journal publications and about same number of conference publications.
