The Centre for Emerging Societies (CES) is a centre for research under the aegis of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar University (SNU). CES aims to produce and disseminate cutting-edge research in issues relating to emerging societies and, to that end, create an eco-system of high-quality research in India and Asia. The activities of the centre are interdisciplinary and the scope of the activities encompasses academic and policy research in subject matters in three areas: emerging market finance, development economics, and law and regulation of capital markets and institutions.
A special focus of the centre is to explore mechanisms to expand access to capital markets and institutions for the underserved sectors, especially (but not exclusively) small and medium enterprises and rural households. In addition to knowledge creation and knowledge maintenance, an important objective of the centre will be to disseminate the knowledge to the stakeholders through conferences, workshops, and lectures organized by the centre as well as through participation in similar forums organized by others. The relevant stakeholders of the centre are academicians interested in emerging economies and societies, policy-makers and regulators, and practitioners engaged in emerging markets and institutions.
